Mr. Made Darya
Bapak Made Darya is a qualified civil engineer who received his academic credentials from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia’s premier university. He did postgraduate training there and then returned to Bali where since 1989 he has been employed as a lecturer at the Udayana University Polytechnic.

Along with his teaching work he has also been involved in a number of building and renovation projects which have included the design and building of private houses (my own included), restaurants, schools, temples and swimming pools. In constructing my own villa as well as the villa of close friends nearby, he and I have formed a close working relationship. I have found him to be a cooperative, friendly and conscientious professional who provides regular reports on his work and is honest and efficient in the management of monies and other resources in building work. As a civil engineer, he also has extensive background knowledge on a wide range of building related issues as well as the cultural and human environment in which all projects in Bali take place.

Because Pak Darya is from a nearby village, he uses local knowledge and connections to deal with local conditions and problems that arise. This is an invaluable skill and saves both cost and time in any project in Bali.

As an experienced contractor with a good reputation, he is familiar with all aspects of design, purchasing of materials, building construction, subcontracting and finishing work. These qualifications, plus my own good working relationship with him built over time, mean I trust his stewardship and work ethics in the project work he has been involved in. I therefore have confidence in him in relation to this proposed project which I too am committed to.

A measure of Pak Darya’s integrity and faith in his own workmanship is his almost unprecedented 2 year warranty on his building work-most such building work have a maximum guarantee in Bali of 6 months or less.
